My name is Danielle Steenwyk-Rowaan, and I’m the Team Leader of Open Homes Hamilton, a ministry that supports refugee claimants by offering home-based hospitality.
My Open Homes teammates and I are working to recover the ancient Christian practice of hospitality in the Church today, both to respond to the deep needs of people who have fled for their lives and ended up in Hamilton and because we believe that refugees can help the Church remember who we are.
I feel most connected to who Creator God made me to be when I’m connecting with people who come from a different culture or ethnicity than me. We need each other!
I live in east Hamilton with my husband Dan, our German shepherd-kangaroo cross Roo, and our housemates Brad (human) and Emma (dog).
